Our mission is to ensure our resources minimise any adverse environmental impact caused by the day-to-day running of our business. We regularly review our environmental policies and procedures to improve our performance and quality.
Reducing our carbon footprint
As a specialist garden room manufacturer, it would be irresponsible for us to ignore the fact that buildings produce half of the UK total carbon emissions! We invest the time and resource to manufacture energy-efficient highly insulated environmentally friendly garden buildings.
We are committed to building eco-friendly garden spaces that reduce our Carbon footprint in a number of ways.
Manufacturing on-site at our main office and showrooms just outside Milton Keynes and adjacent to our main office and newly opened showrooms. A key advantage of manufacturing in-house means we are able to reduce our carbon footprint – by minimising journeys for deliveries to and from our suppliers.
Use of modern methods of construction
In terms of modern construction‚ by using Structurally Insulated Panel Systems (SIPS), we maximise the structural and thermal performance of our garden buildings.
SIPs are one of the most thermally efficient ways to construct buildings and using an OSB board sandwich with a thick polyurethane (PUR) core – means they have a very low U-value rating. This multi-layered construction offers a typical maximum structural life span of 60 years with a guarantee of 10 years. SIPs are used on the floor, walls and ceilings of our garden rooms as it means there are no cold spots.
Certified Managed Timber Products
All timber used is FSC certified and sourced from sustainable forest programmes. Vivid Green is committed to using certified managed timber products that are sourced are from responsibly managed forests certified in accordance with the UK’s rules and regulations.
Our clients can be confident in knowing that we are not contributing to the destruction of the world’s forests.
A living roof, or ‘Green Roof’, serves many functions whilst providing a visually stunning talking point. It will be delivered with at least 80% plant coverage – made up of 7 species of sedum plants that have been pre-grown into the system. You can expect it to flower from late spring through to autumn time. A display of many different colours, it is irresistible to pollinating insects – creating an environmentally friendly habitat for wildlife.
Benefits of living roofs include:
- Protection from additional solar gain during the summer
- In winter, the living roof provides an additional layer of insulation.
- Should your building require planning permission, the inclusion of a living roof is a positive addition to the application and viewed favourably by planners.
- Rain and stormwater runoff is reduced, lessening the risk of localised flooding in threatened areas.
- Increases buildings’ acoustic performance.
