Space for two, with a view. A simple brief from two brothers in need of a modern and professional home office to share in Brentwood, Essex.

This three week build was relatively simple, with only some straightforward ground clearance as preparation.

The view of the new home office from the main house. Next up- landscaping the garden in time for summer.

The clients opted for our popular sustainably sourced Western Red Cedar cladding, and slimline anthracite grey aluminium framed bifolding doors. The modern structure is nestled at the end of the garden, amongst established trees. Vivid Green are experienced in building around established trees, and understanding how a new building will best fit within an existing landscape. Some larger or older trees are under Tree Preservation Orders, which can mean special permission is required before any removals or changes can be made to them. We can take care of this process for you!

Details for comfort

The office space will be cosy in the winter and cool in the summer thanks to the energy efficient climate control system that we installed at the rear of the room.

We also installed a smart lighting system, hardwearing laminate flooring and LED downlights.

Irregular building shape

This is another example of how we can ensure a building is as close to the maximum of 30sqm footprint (without needing building regulations sign off) as possible. The design follows the angled shape of the garden to produce a trapezoid shape.

And here’s a snap of more of our clients furnishings in the finished building. Tidy office, tidy mind!
