Our client’s vision was for a retreat in the form of a tranquil, uncluttered chill out room, away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. Glass of wine or cup of coffee in hand, by herself or with friends and family, she can relax and unwind, gazing out onto her lovely garden.
Groundworks
In order to level the sloping ground on which the garden room was to be built, our installation team needed a mini-digger. The only access was through the garage and down some steps into the garden! However, our skilled team rose to the challenge, as always and were soon proceeding with the build.
The design
Measuring 3m x 4.5m internally, our client’s garden room is clad in Western Red Cedar – a high quality and gorgeously vibrant wood. Elegantly framed with charcoal grey aluminium, three panelled sliding glass doors provide a fabulously bright and airy outlook. The addition of a window on the right side of the building creates a seamless double aspect, rewarding our client with extra light and a fantastic open air feeling, making the room really feel part of the garden.
Fixtures and fittings
Up and down lights are fitted in our client’s new room, as well as plenty of sockets to accommodate her every electrical and lighting need in her Zen Zone. She has a beautiful, spacious and bright canvas on which to create her perfect haven.
PIR light sensors are fitted to the outside of the building. They detect movement and switch on automatically, providing our client with peace of mind and a safe passage to her garden room in the dark. Read more about our technology options here.
Decking
The spacious decking area provides the perfect place to sit outside, to relax and socialise with friends. Composite decking was the ideal choice, as it is hard-wearing and zero maintenance.
Our competent team were able to integrate the pear tree into the decking. Working around established and much loved trees is something we do more often than expected. They were there first, after all and we always aim to accommodate our client’s needs and requests in every way possible.
