Maximising Natural Light in the Garden Games Room

An integral feature of the family garden games room that deserves special mention is the large 4m, 4-panel bi-fold doors that command the front view. These doors can be fully opened on a warm, beautiful summer’s day, effectively extending the indoor games area right into the garden. This fusion creates a fantastic outdoor BBQ and games area that the whole family can enjoy!

To ensure a balanced distribution of sunlight throughout the entire room, we strategically added two slimline floor-to-ceiling windows on either side of the central panels. This design choice ensured every corner of the room was bathed in light, from one end of the pool table to the other, providing a pleasing view from any seat in the room.

Our dedication to detail did not stop there. We added a small, high-level window to the rear elevation to provide ventilation on days when the front doors would be closed. This feature also ensures a refreshing breeze can flow through the room when all doors are open.

Choosing the Right Cladding

Our clients opted for Larch as the primary material for the external cladding of the family garden games room. Over the years, Western Red Cedar has been a popular choice. However, Larch is gaining traction as the preferred wood due to its superior ability to maintain its colour under UV exposure, unlike Cedar, which tends to fade unevenly. As Larch is already three-quarters of its final colour shade when used in construction, it demands less frequent oiling to prevent fading. This quality makes it a more practical and low-maintenance choice over time.

A Spacious and Versatile Garden Games Room for Endless Fun

The final dimensions of this substantial garden games room measure an impressive 8.2m wide, 3.7m deep, and 2.5m high. Given its sheer size, the room required careful positioning at the rear of the garden. Our team designed it to be forward-facing, thus ensuring there was ample space in the garden for other child-friendly features like the children’s mini summer house, climbing apparatus, and slide.

Garden games rooms are the perfect spaces for diverse entertainment options. They can easily accommodate games tables, computer games, snooker or pool tables, and even a karaoke setup. We can tailor a garden games room design to suit your individual preferences. You might fancy incorporating a bar for those fun-filled nights in, or perhaps you’d like to install a large flatscreen for viewing the biggest and most exciting sporting events of the year.

Our team of experienced and dedicated design consultants are ready to help. They will work closely with you to create your own garden games room, crafting a space for your family’s enjoyment.
