The plan was in black and white...
The brief for this build was in plain black and white… the client, who’d recently moved to the area from London, needed a large multi-purpose building with an office where he could work during the day, and a gym with a full shower room to supplement the gym use. The client first got in touch with Vivid Green at the start of the year (2021) and the building he had in mind required full planning permission, due to the height being more than the permitted development limit. Plans were passed in early summer and we completed the stunning garden room in early November after a 5-week build.
As always, our design team worked with the client to understand exactly what he needed in his garden building, including super-fast internet connectivity, climate control to make the space comfortable and usable all year round, and of course the gym section needed suitable flooring to cater for gym equipment. The luxury shower unit was selected by the client and fitted by our team.
Space to work and workout
The external finish is a mixture of white silicon render and black stained larch as a contrast.
Aluminium doors and windows were fitted throughout with the full-length windows in the gym area being ’tilt and turn’ to allow for ventilation when tilted, and used as a window or an escape route to adhere to building regs when turned and used as a door.
Our team also installed a ‘Jack and Jill’ style shower room, so it can be accessed from both main rooms. And of course, the internet was installed for office use.
